Councillor Patrick Wilson

Councillor Patrick Wilson

My wife and I have lived in Chinley since 1991 and our children grew up here attending local primary and secondary schools and local clubs and groups.

I have always been struck by the strong community spirit in Chinley and Buxworth. I have tried to play my part over the years and, when time allowed, I eventually joined the parish council in 2012 following a career in local government. I was elected Chairman from May 2014 to May 2016.

My main aim over the next couple of years is to bring to fruition the essential work to refurbish and improve the community centre, working closely with the Community Association, and to continue to develop longer term plans for a new centre. The centre is the very hub of the community and such an important facility for Chinley and Buxworth.

In addition to Parish Council work I am Chairman of the Buxton Talking Newspaper, which provides audio recordings of the Buxton Advertiser and other local publications to people who are blind or visually impaired, and I am involved in the annual poppy appeal.
