Death of Cllr Bill Smith - Tuesday 25 April 2023

Death of Cllr Bill Smith - Tuesday 25 April 2023

Posted: Thu, 27 Apr 2023 16:16 by Parish Clerk

It is with deep sadness that the Parish Council announce the death of Cllr Bill Smith on Tuesday 25th April 2023.

Bill had served as parish councillor here for many years, in particular representing the villagers of Buxworth. He played a very active role until just a few short weeks ago. He will be hugely missed by us all. More »

A one minute's silence was held at last night's Parish Council meeting to mark Bill's death and the Chairman, Cllr Martin Walton, offered some words: "Bill was a tremendous, well-respected councillor. He attended meetings regularly and carried out inspections in Buxworth every week. He carried out a huge amount of physical work in the parish as part of the General Purposes Working Group and could always be relied upon to help out whenever needed. His passing will leave a huge hole on the Council."

The flag on Squirrel Green will fly at half mast until after Bill's funeral (date to be advised). Our thoughts are with Bill's family and friends at this difficult time. » Less
